Xiaomi launched the Mi LED TV 4X PRO which is one of the hot-selling TVs in India. This is a quick review of the TV as Xiaomi offers a lot of features in this device.
Design and Build
The Mi LED TV 4X PRO has a 55-inch panel with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. Xiaomi has used a 10-bit panel which supports a wider 1.07 billion color palette, far more than what an 8-bit panel supports. The 10-bit panels are capable of producing 1024 shades of one individual color. Compared to the predecessor, there’s a big improvement in terms of colour accuracy. While talking about 4K videos, the picture looks sharp and the colour reproduction is impressive. Colours feel natural in most cases but at times they feel a bit blown out and unnaturally vibrant. Since it is an LED-backlit panel, there is sufficient dimming of the dark areas on the screen, but not as deep or accurate like in an OLED TV.
Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4X PRO runs on Android TV 8 OS and also gets the company’s in-house content discovery engine- Patchwall UI updated to the latest version. Plus you get the Bluetooth enabled remote controller in the package. The stand is also made out of solid metal and is extremely sturdy, with it the television weighs in at 17.8 Kilogram. Without the stand at a comfortable 17.2 KG
Audio
The sound is good for TV shows and content that’s usually streamed over DTH services. But it is not entirely room-filling and lacks the punch to create a cinematic sound experience. The new TV is slightly thicker to accommodate a new set of speakers, 10W each that produces decent audio. since there’s no dedicated sub-woofer in the TV, the bass cannot be heard. You can’t really tune the audio quality much. The TV supports Dolby audio, but the settings don’t make a big difference here.
Performance and User Experience
The Mi LED TV 4X PRO 55-inch is powered by 64-bit Amlogic quad-core chipset with Mali-450 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It takes about 50 seconds to boot up. And it takes more or less the same amount of time to come on every time you switch it off and on from the remote control. The first good thing in its software is the use of dual OS mode. You can choose a single OS at a time in between the default PatchWall OS and Android TV. The PatchWall OS make it a more user-friendly TV. Xiaomi does not include support for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video natively, its neither pre-installed nor can be found in Play Store. This is a let down though it can be used via a sperate Chromecast or Amazon Fire Stick.
Connectivity features
There’s no major compromise in the connectivity department. The new 55-inch Mi Smart TV features 2 USB ports, 3 HDMI ports, an Ethernet port, S/PDIF port for audio, AV input and Bluetooth. The setting of this port is quite lengthy because you have to enable HDMI 2.0 port individually for each port.
Recommending it to someone is becuase of some great features and of the Rs 39,999 price tag.
